We've been in the biodiesel industry long enough to have been around the block.
We started in purification and quality; it was Filtertechnik who introduced drywashing biodiesel back in 2003. Since then we've dealt with producers of all shapes and sizes from all over the world.
With Filtertechnik Biodiesel the aim is not to pass on our knowledge; it is to pass on the knowledge of thousands.
The two most common questions we are asked are:
“Do I need to convert my engine
and how much will it cost me to make my own biodiesel ?”
If you are looking for the answers to these questions, look no further, you're on the right page of the right website!
Making your own biodiesel is the most tax efficient way of running a diesel engine, a general rule is if that it runs on diesel; it runs on biodiesel.
Our company fleet has never had any problems with biodiesel and we have done over 1,000,000 miles on 100% biodiesel which is the same as going to the moon and back, Twice !
So the answer to the first question is
NO! there is NO ENGINE MODIFICATION REQUIRED TO RUN BIODIESEL! You can run 100% biodiesel or it can be blended with mineral diesel at any percentage.
The second question;
With regard to the price of making your biodiesel; that's up to you really, there are so many ways of acquiring oils, methanol and catalysts that the prices from chemical suppliers will always be more reliable than the prices from equipment suppliers.
We can tell you all about the HMRC breaks on Homebrew Biodiesel - to download the taxman's own information about this please click here.
We are not suppliers or collectors of cooking oils or chemical suppliers.
We can tell you for certain what materials you'll need, how much you'll need and even what ratio you'll mix it all together.
We're also pretty good at telling you what happened if it didn't go so well but we cant honestly make any claim to what price you can source your materials for.
What we can honestly say, is that if you want to make your own biodiesel; it's a simple process but it needs to be done using the right equipment.
Why Use Filtertechnik Biodiesel?
First of all; our Homebrew reactor is tailored specifically to the Homebrewer, it uses a 240 volt regular socket on the heater and the pump for accessibility, so it will fit right into your workshop, shed or garage.
The Homebrew reactor won a Department of Trade and Industry Innovation Award and has a 60 litre capacity and will produce 48 litres of biodiesel and 12 litres of glycerol in every batch, although it only takes an hour to do we'll assume that to take advantage of the 2500 litre tax break you will only be making one batch a week.
48 (litres of biodiesel) x 52 (weeks a year) = 2496 (litres of biodiesel)
This means that by using Filtertechnik, the producer has total piece of mind and high quality production, which means trustworthy biodiesel that will not cause any engine wear or mechanical problems.
The homebrew kit produces a minimum of 48 litres per hour, but you don't have to only use it once a week.
It really is the most flexible system on the global market.
The system is fit for small scale production on a professional basis and can produce 384 litres in an 8 hour day, based on working 5 days and a 48 week year ….
The Homebrew Processor CAN PRODUCE 92,000 litres a year!
The Homebrew reactor is made from a chemically resistant GRP (Glass Reinforced Polypropylene), this provides a critical safety advantage over the HDPE (High Density Poly Ethylene) processors which are made from the same material as milk bottles.
Every Filtertechnik Homebrew kit is supplied with a safety kit including:
Splash Free Filling Funnel
Producer Coveralls
Safety Goggles
Gloves
The Homebrew processor also has a clear observation panel which allows the biodiesel maker to ensure the correct levels of chemicals are mixed.
Better ratio's means a better transesterification reaction, which means better quality biodiesel with the Filtertechnik system.
It's amazing how many processors are out there without any instrumentation at all, the Homebrew system features a temperature thermostat, and safety shut off on the integral heating system which means the biodiesel maker can see clearly when the system is up to temperature and ready to begin.
The Filtertechnik Homebrew Biodiesel Processor comes also with an integral water wash system and is fully compatible with every drywash media in the world; it is this universal makes the kit ideal for entry level producers and also for existing producers looking to upgrade.
Filtertechnik Homebrew Processors are available from just £499.99 and come with one years' manufacturers warrantee, full training and instructions and are fully compatible with drywash systems.
